RELEASE DATE: July 31, 1992 STARS: Kristy Swanson, Luke Perry, Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, Paul Reubens  STUDIO: 20th Century Fox WATCH FORMAT: Library rental  PLOT: Buffy Summers is your typical high school cheerleader. That is until a strange man named Merrick arrives in town and admits that she is the "chosen one" destined to slay all vampires. Of course, Buffy believes that Merrick is a crazy person, until she sees the vampires for herself. Now she must train to fight, especially for the impending arrival of Lothos, the most evil vampire of all time.  MY OPINION: It surprised me that this movie is what inspired the epic show that would come out years later. I remember watching the show a long time ago (actually I only watched the first two seasons, and only then I watched it because I had a huge crush on Sarah Michelle Gellar) and this movie is way different than the show. For one thing, it's a comedy. I don't remember that many funny moments from

RELEASE DATE: August 18, 1986 CAST: Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis, John Getz FILM STUDIO: 20th Century Fox WATCH FORMAT: Hollywood Suite: 80s Movies PLOT: Seth Brundle is a scientist who has created his own teleportation pods that will allow a person to travel from one pod to the next. After testing on baboons, Seth is ready to test it on humans, and decides to use himself as the first guinea pig. Unfortunately, as Seth is about to use his device, a small housefly enters the pod with him just as he teleports. Now, both the DNA of Seth and the fly begin to merge together, causing Seth to slowly transform into a grotesque fly hybrid and his girlfriend, Veronica, tries to find a way to help him.    MY OPINION: This movie is both horrific and amazing at the same time. The effects of Seth's body turning from human to fly is just gruesome to watch. No surprise as this was directed by David Cronenberg, who is the master of body horror. Just watching Seth transform looks and feels absolutel

The Black Cauldron

RELEASE DATE: July 26, 1985   STARS: John Hurt, John Bryer, Freddie Jones, Susan Sheridan    STUDIO: Walt Disney Studios    WATCH FORMAT: Library rental      PLOT: A young farm boy named Taran is tasked in searching for the legendary Black Cauldron, which contains evil powers, before the evil Horned King can use it to release an army of the dead. Along the way, Taran befriends a dog-like creature named Gurgi, a young princess, and a mistral who join him on his quest as they deal with witches, fairies, and other mystical creatures.  MY OPINION: This movie has been labelled as the "black sheep" of the Disney animated library. When it first came out, it did not do so well at the box office and was beaten by the Care Bears Movie, which had already been out for several months. After watching it myself, I can see why.  This film does have a few good moments. Like the Horned King has quite a nice and creepy design, and being voiced by legendary actor John Hurt didn't

Waites  FILM STUDIO: Universal Studios  WATCH FORMAT: Own it  PLOT: Set in the Arctic, a team of scientists discover an old research base where it looks as though something horrifying has happened. The team soon finds out that the base had found some sort of creature not of this world and also has the power to imitate other living organisms, even humans. It doesn't take too long for the team to turn on each other and paranoia starts to sink in when it turns out that the creature has made its way to their base and anyone of them could be it and they must figure out which one of them is human and which one is not MY OPINION: This is one of my all time favorite horror movies. I watch it almost every Halloween. The one thing that makes it great is the suspense. It puts you on the edge of your seat as you don't know which one of the cast is human and which one is the Thing i

Introduction

Thanks to Covid-19, a lot of people are stuck inside their homes. As this was going on, I did what I always do when I'm coped up inside my house; watch movies. This blog will go over my personal opinions of all of the movies I have watched during this pandemic. Be them either ones I own, or rented from my local library, or watched On Demand, or from the three streaming providers I have; Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, or from the many free movie channels I got from my cable service, including Hollywood Suite and the Super Channel Vault, or just from a TV channel.  For each post, I will give you the title of the movie, where I watched it from, the plot, and then my personal opinion about it. Note: I might add a couple of spoilers to my opinion, so fare warning to anyone who hasn't see any of these films yet.  So sit back and enjoy!
