PLOT: Set in the Arctic, a team of scientists discover an old research base where it looks as though something horrifying has happened. The team soon finds out that the base had found some sort of creature not of this world and also has the power to imitate other living organisms, even humans. It doesn't take too long for the team to turn on each other and paranoia starts to sink in when it turns out that the creature has made its way to their base and anyone of them could be it and they must figure out which one of them is human and which one is not

MY OPINION: This is one of my all time favorite horror movies. I watch it almost every Halloween. The one thing that makes it great is the suspense. It puts you on the edge of your seat as you don't know which one of the cast is human and which one is the Thing in disguise. The best part is the blood test scene and  the Thing's blood popping out, avoiding the hot wire, is a genuine jump scare.

The effects for the Thing are amazing as well. They really stand out for a horror movie from the 1980s. My favorite parts are the mutated dog and the severed head turning into a giant spider.

Another thing I love is the film's theme music. That low "bump-bump, bump-bump," that almost sounds like a slow heartbeat that really carries the tone of the movie.

Have a listen yourself:

Overall, I highly recommend this to all horror fans out there. If you are looking for a film with a lot of suspense and make you wonder if your friends are human or not, then go see The Thing.

I give it a perfect score of five mutated huskies out of five.
